AssembleU: A Changing Industry - Sept 14th - Assemble Sound
This will be an in-depth conversation with former Warner Music Group President (and Detroit native) Mike Jbara, who is currently the CEO of MQA.
Jbara joined MQA after 20 years with the Warner Music Group where he held roles as head of studios, President of ADA Worldwide, President of WEA Corp., and Executive VP of Technology and Business Process. Few people understand the shifts that have rocked the music industry the last 20 years as well as Jbara, who navigated them from the top of one of the world's "big three" record labels. We'll explore that past, and the potential futures he sees for the industry, with a focus on where the artist fits in all of it.

Kill Paris - Sept 16th - The Grasshopper
[ soundcloud.com/killparis ]
The grooves are the guru no matter what the style. Kill Paris can sweep the listener from guitar-driven blues moves to downtempo-tronica without, so to speak, skipping a beat. Kill Paris kills with equal aplomb through instrumental hypnosis and vocally endowed songcraft. Kill Paris’ versatility allows for a multi-faceted, kaleidoscopic exploration of groove-giving. This artist has more ways to use hooks than all the lonely-couple-in-a-car urban legends combined could hope to muster. “My sound is constantly evolving,” he says. “I really dislike falling in a niche and doing what is easy. The more I challenge myself, the more prosperous my music becomes.” And yet Kill Paris’ central personality is never lost in the shuffle. Focus remains no matter how far he ranges in the quest to find fresh ways to make heads bob and unite bodies and rhythm into oneness. Now, Kill Paris is a serious music-making well of creation.
