2017 Detroit Design Festival - Sept 26th - 30th - Detroit
The seventh annual Detroit Design Festival (DDF) returns September 26-30 for a five-day celebration of design and creativity. In celebration of Detroit’s designation as the first and only City of Design in the United States, DDF programming and events will explore the various ways design is shaping our future. From the workplace to the built environment, thoughtful design can impact and even change the way we experience the world around us.

Join us to kick off SMPLFD's fall featured designer SKNDLSS.
The night will include a small premeire of their unrealeased film by We the Committee, shopping, and meet-and-greet with designer Lindsay Cashews. When we conclude at 7p.m., the party will follow SMPLFD to Eastern market to kick off Eastern Market After Dark with your new wears in style!
Allee Willis' Premiere Party for "The D"! - Sept 28th - The Detroit Institute of Art
A FREE citywide party at the DIA celebrating the release of "The D", a song featuring more people in history than have ever been on a record before – 5000 Detroiters! - written and and thrown by Grammy, Emmy, Tony and Webby award-winning and nominated songwriter, artist, and world renown party-thrower Allee Willis. Featuring "The D" world premiere, sing-alongs to some of Willis' greatest hits including "September,""Boogie Wonderland," and the theme to Friends, special performances and tributes, Boogaloo Wonderland sandwiches (legendary in the Detroit neighborhood Willis grew up in and partially named after her hit, "Boogie Wonderland”), and the real-time collaboration of 1000 Detroiters creating a 50 foot long "We Are the D" art wall. People Magazine says, “She throws parties that are works of art in themselves…Willis’s parties are the campiest hot tickets."

Murals in the Market Closing Party and Eastern Market After Dark - Sept 28th - 1550 Winder St.
The final party of the 3rd annual Murals in the Market festival will coincide with the Detroit Design Festival's wildly successful Eastern Market After Dark. The event brings together designers and enthusiasts alike to celebrate Detroit’s role as a design capital. In celebration of Detroit’s new designation as a UNESCO City of Design – the first city in the United States – DDF events and programs will be exploring the ways in which design is shaping Detroit’s future.
